Tracy
was born in Tacoma Washington and unknowingly, lived only a stonethrow
from Jimi Hendrix when he lived in Seattle. His family moved around the
state a lot as his dad relocated from job to job. This eventually
brought him to Michigan when he was 11 and eventually to the
small mid Michigan town of Eaton Rapids. When he was 14 he got his first guitar and began learning the plethora of guitar music that was out during the 70's. On his 16th birthday, he was able to get his first new guitar; a black Hondo II Les Paul copy. He also began taking lessons at this time. Max Butler was a great teacher who really knew how to jumpstart lead playing. He dabbled a bit in theory but mostly just showed different scales and got them playing until it started to make sense. A month before his 18th birthday, Tracy started playing in his first band. He continued to play in and out of bands up into his late 20’s before setlling down and becoming domesticated. While the music was very important and there were always had dreams of being discovered, he still had to work a full time job to support the family. After a stint in college he broke into the wonderful world of computer IT where he has spent the last 18 years of his life. Even though he continued playing during this time, he refers to his late 20’s and early 30’s as the musical Dark Ages of his life. It was during this time though that time that he met Jeff Cloar. Jeff was just putting together a studio and was looking for a guinea pig to hone in his engineering skills on. He and Tracy hooked up and began doing some very crude recording on even more crude recording equipment. Before long Jeff offered Tracy a partnership in the studio as an in house producer, he literally JUMPED on this opportunity. This enabled him to work with some very talented people and to get to know and see who was out there. He also began doing session work on projects, which opened up other avenue’s for him and got him into different studio’s to lay down tracks on other people’s projects and meet new continue to meet new people. After a handful of years spent working on other people’s projects, Tracy finally decided it was time to start his own solo project Tracy lives in Lansing, with his wife Patty and an abundance of children. He continues to work by day and write and record by night. His first CD “The Traceman Cometh!” is expected to be completed soon and available to purchase through his website. A second solo CD will be following in the fairly near future. Updates of his CD and other music projects can be found on his website. |
